Schedule a visit with your Girl or Cub Scouts to Gunston Hall. Call weekdays to schedule, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 703-550-9220 or email grouptours@gunstonhall.org. In addition to the hands-on, interactive programs described here, Scout groups with reservations are welcome at Gunston Hall’s family programs. For details, check out the section on special events.
Visit Gunston Hall and become a Plantation Detective. As you tour the site, a booklet will guide your search for clues from long ago and help you to answer questions about what you see along the way. When you complete your booklet, bring it to the Visitors’ Center to receive your Gunston Hall patch!

Try-It and Badge Hands-On Workshops
Earn the Listening to the Past try-it or Local Lore badge. Ninety-minute guided workshops are designed to fulfill the try-it or badge requirements. Workshops include experiences in the mansion and on the grounds, hands-on activities, and a take-home completed project.
$9.00 per Scout & $7.00 per chaperone

Earn all the requirements for this fun and active badge. Experiences in the historic area, hands-on
activities, and a take-home project are featured (about two hours in all). A very full afternoon!

Explore Gunston Hall through the eyes of a child. A hour-long interactive tour includes a stop at the plantation house, schoolhouse, and hands-on museum. A fun outing – promise!

Scouts participate in a behind-the-scenes tour in order to complete specific requirements for the Museum Discovery and Women through Time interest projects. The program includes conversations with museum staff members about their careers and an exploration of a major area of research for the museum: the role of women in the 1700s.
