Sir Harry is a Devon Steer, a breed used extensively as work animals in the colonial era. Hand raised by a family in Occoquan, he came to Gunston Hall when his size required larger quarters.

Harry has a very friendly nature and often bounds up to greet visitors. However, visitors should be aware of his long tongue which has been known to reach out and taste ties and scarves of some unwary guests.
