Gunston Hall is the 550-acre estate of George Mason, author of the Virginia Declaration of Rights.  Explore walking trails to the Potomac River, Mason’s 1750’s Georgian-style mansion, a newly restored one-acre riverside garden, and reproduction outbuildings such as a hearth kitchen, schoolhouse, laundry, and dairy.  Start your visit in the Visitor Center where you’ll find the newest exhibition, Revolutionary Rights, and the Museum Shop.

Just a short drive from Washington, D.C., this Northern Virginia park offers many outdoor activities and programs.  It has hiking trails, 3 miles of paved multi-use trails, a large picnic area, a playground, a car-top canoe launch and a visitor center.  Canoe, kayak, and bicycle rentals are also available.  Bird watching, especially for American bald eagles, and guided canoe trips of Kane’s Creek and Belmont Bay are favorites with park visitors.  The park’s wetlands, forest, open water, ponds and open fields make it ideal for environmental study and wildlife observation.

Bring the kids for a day of splashing and sliding at Pirate’s Cove Waterpark, spend a day on the bay, or golf on an 18-hole championship course.  Canoe, pedal boat, stand up paddle board, and kayak rentals are available; or bring your own boat to our public boat launch ramp.  Make a day of it by renting a picnic shelter or stay a little longer and reserve a cabin or campsite.  Pohick Bay Regional Park is managed by NOVA Parks which preserves over 12,00 acres across Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church, and the City of Fairfax.  From a wavepool to nature trails, from golfing to boating, there’s a NOVA Park that is just right for you.
