DESCRIPTION:Save the date for the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Virginia Declaration of Rights!\nFriday\, June 12\n10 a.m.-1 p.m. \nHelp us commemorate the anniversary of the Virginia Declaration of Rights with a special naturalization ceremony on the lawn.  Guests are invited to participate in a number of activities before the ceremony.  Then\, once the ceremony starts at 11 a.m.\, help us welcome 50 of America’s newest citizens on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration.  Finally\, join us for refreshments on the lawn and tours of the historic house. \nSaturday\, June 13\n10 a.m.-4 p.m. \nCome back on Saturday\, June 13th for a festival-style celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Virginia Declaration of Rights.  Enjoy live music\, museum theater performances\, hands-on activities\, and engage with other civically minded organizations including HeadCount\, Mason Neck State Park\, and the Library of Virginia.  Lunch and treats are available for purchase throughout the day. \n\n\n\nTime\nEvent\n\n\n10 a.m.\nWelcome\n\n\n10-10:45 a.m.\nMansion Tours\n\n\n10:15-11:45 a.m.\nWreath Laying Ceremony – SAR\n\n\n10:30-11:30 a.m.\nGeorge Mason and the Virginia Declaration of Rights Through Their Eyes: A Conversation between Thomas Jefferson and George Washington\n\n\n11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.\nMuseum Theater: George Mason and His Legacy*\n\n\n11:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m.\nMusic: Itinerant Band\n\n\n12:15-1:15 p.m.\nMansion Tours\n\n\n12:45 p.m.\nBirthday Cake for the Declaration\n\n\n1:30-2:45 p.m.\nMuseum Theater: George Mason and His Legacy*\n\n\n2-3 p.m.\nGeorge Mason and the Virginia Declaration of Rights Through Their Eyes: A Conversation between Thomas Jefferson and George Washington\n\n\n2:45-3:45 p.m.\nMansion Tours\n\n\n3 p.m.\nBirthday Cake for the Declaration\n\n\n4 p.m.\nMuseum Theater: George Mason and His Legacy*\n\n\n\n*The Museum Theater program can take only 24 guests at one time.  Participants may pick up a timed ticket\, free of charge\, for one of the performances on the day of the event. \nAdmission\nOn Friday\, June 12th\, admission is complimentary from open until 1 p.m. for the naturalization ceremony.  After 1 p.m.\, general admission applies. \nAdmission is complimentary all day on Saturday\, June 13th. \nRain or Shine \nThis special program will occur rain or shine.  In the event of significant rainfall or thunderstorms\, all activities will move to indoor locations.
