Symposium: Dissent Made Material

January 28 @ 7:00 am - 8:00 pm

FREE
Tune in for our annual decorative arts symposium starting on January 28. In each session over four weeks we’ll explore how people over four centuries have shown their dissent through handcrafted clothing, furnishings, and more.
In this session, join Gunston Hall and Johanna Brown (Curator of Moravian Decorative Arts) from the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) and Old Salem for our first of four decorative arts symposium sessions. During this 45-minute session, discover how 18th-century Moravians (members of a religious sect) used material culture to set themselves apart from others and show their faith.
Do you already have questions you’d like answered? Send us an email at historic@gunstonhall.org and you can have your question answered live on Facebook during the program.
