SUMMARY:Cocktails by Candlelight: Game Night
DESCRIPTION:Cocktails by Candlelight is now a series! \nWe’re expanding our much-beloved program to four events throughout the year.  In the spring and fall\, join us for the event you know and love.  In the winter\, roll in for a Game Night to light up the dark and\, in the summer\, you can meander through the flowers for our Garden Party.  \nJoin us for the first event in 2026.  We’re ready to help you learn how to play 18th-century games.  Many people in the 18th century played a variety of card\, dice\, and board games.  Letters\, journals\, and even existing game pieces can tell us a lot about the games they played in George Mason’s lifetime.  A number of them are predecessors to games we still play today. \nLearn how to play games like the Game of the Goose and Whist over a glass of wine or an 18th-century treat during this exciting night out at Gunston Hall. Game masters will be on hand to offer game recommendations\, teach you how to play\, and help you have a great time. \nParticipants at this event must be 21 or older. \nRegistration\nSeries Package\nSeries packages are available for both individuals and for two people until May 1st. Click on “Series Package” above and add two tickets to your cart to get the discounted dual package price. \nThe package includes admission to:\nGame Night – February 20\nCocktails by Candlelight: Spring – May 1\nGarden Party – July 17\nCocktails by Candlelight: Fall – September 11 \nIndividual Package:\nRegular: $165 – save $35!\nMember: $135 – save $65! \nDual Package:\nRegular: $305 – save $95!\nMember $245 – save$155! \nSingle Event Tickets\nClick on “Single Event Tickets” above to purchase tickets for just the Game Night event. \nIndividual $35\nMembers $25 \nTickets will be available at the door the evening of the event if it does not sell out in advance.

SUMMARY:Lunch at the Library: Uncovering a George Mason and George Washington Letter
DESCRIPTION:This event is located at: George Washington Presidential Library \n\n\nJoin us for lunch and a compelling discussion with Dr. Kate Steir and Zoie Horecny\, as they share insights into an unpublished 1768 letter from George Mason to George Washington. The previously unknown letter was discovered earlier this year and features a reply in Washington’s hand dated 1789. \n\nThis historic piece of correspondence\, which will be on display during the event\, sheds unexpected light on the private dealings and quiet tensions of these neighbors\, while adding a new dimension to the complex personal and political relationship that existed between these two Founding Fathers. The Washington Library will also display documents from its collection which illustrate this historic relationship.\n\nThis event is part of the Washington Library’s Lunch at the Library series. Lunch will be provided.\n\nTickets: $40\nLink to Purchase Tickets: https://www.mountvernon.org/plan-your-visit/calendar/events/lunch-library-uncovering-george-mason-and-george-washington-letter
