This event takes place at George Mason University – Fenwick Library, Main Reading Room – Tuesday, February 10, 2026 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM EST
Gunston Hall’s Archivist, Jenaveve Quigley, will be presenting work from her internship project she did in collaboration with Gunston Hall, Shiloh Baptist Church, and the Center for Mason Legacies at GMU. Jenaveve digitized Shiloh’s historic church materials and conducted archival research on the founding members of the church. The main thesis on the presentation will be on the expansion of the Gunston/Mason Neck historical record through digitizing objects and documents which she created through an openly accessible Omeka site. Jenaveve worked under the supervision of Dr. Oberle from GMU during her internship.
The Black Lives Next Door Symposium 2026 will also feature other GMU students presenting groundbreaking local and digital scholarship projects, hosted by the Center for Mason Legacies and Department of African and African American Studies.
