General Admission grants access to the grounds, museum, and, via guided tour, the mansion. While in the mansion, guests have the opportunity to look through the windows into the on-going restoration of the riverside garden.  

A Grounds Pass is available for you to explore the grounds on your own.

As America prepares to mark 250 years of Independence, the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250) invites you to come reconnect with your country, in the place that made it possible. George Mason’s Gunston Hall is one of the historical sites where you can connect with the ideas that help found this country and learn more about George’s contribution to the revolution and the formation of America.

Hours

We are open Sunday-Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. We are closed on Wednesdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the first two weeks of January. Guided tours occur daily, at 10 and 11 a.m., as well as at 1, 2, 3, and 4 p.m.  Occasionally, tours occur at additional times.  Check at the admissions desk or look online for find out if extra tour times are available on your visit day.  Tours sometimes sell out.  To reserve tickets for a specific time, purchase online.

The grounds close at dusk or at 6 p.m. whichever occurs earlier.

Group Tours

Special tour and admission rates are offered to groups of 10 or more. Arrange in advance to have a guided mansion tour or a combination mansion/grounds tour package. Tours may be scheduled on particular topics such as architecture, archaeology, life for enslaved people, or women in the 18th century. A wide range of school tours is also available. We look forward to assisting you in designing a tour that is uniquely yours!

Blue Star Museum Program

Gunston Hall is pleased to offer complimentary general admission to active-duty members of the military and their families as part of the Blue Star Museum program. Complimentary admission is offered year-round; fees apply for special program days. To qualify, please present your military identification card at the Gunston Hall admissions desk.  Available only on regular admission days.

Museums for All

Gunston Hall is a proud participant in the Museums for All Program. To qualify for complimentary entrance through this program, show your EBT card to the Gunston Hall admissions desk.  Available only on regular admission days.
